Two kinds of ceiling fan jobs. The easy one: replace an existing light fixture with a fan where the box and wiring are already there. The hard one: install a fan where there's no fixture, no box, no wiring at all — that means fishing a new wire from the switch, cutting in a fan-rated box that can hold the weight and torque, and running the new switch leg if the existing switch doesn't support a fan with separate light control. Tim does both kinds all the time.

How We Install
Box, wire, mount, balance.
Tim confirms the existing box (if any) is fan-rated — most builder-grade boxes aren't and need to be swapped. We run any new wiring, install the fan-rated box solidly anchored to a joist or fan brace, mount the fan, wire it to the appropriate switch(es), install the light kit (if any), and balance the blades so it runs without wobble. Test on every speed and confirm the remote (if any) pairs correctly.
A ceiling fan weighs 15-35 pounds and spins at 100+ RPM. Mount it to a regular plastic light box and the box rips out of the ceiling, sometimes with the fan. Tim swaps every non-fan-rated box for a properly anchored fan-rated box, wires the right switch leg for fan-and-light separate control where you want it, and pulls the ESA permit if new circuits are involved.

Can you install a fan where there isn't one now?

Why does my fan wobble?
Usually one of three things: blades out of balance (fixable with a balancing kit), the box isn't fan-rated and the fan is slightly loose, or the fan itself is defective. Tim diagnoses on the visit.
