Most outdoor lighting we get called to fix was installed by a landscaper, not an electrician. The fixtures are fine, but the wire is undersized, the connections aren't weatherproofed, and after one Ontario winter the splices corrode out. Tim does it properly: dedicated 120V feed from the panel, sealed weatherproof transformer, direct-burial cable, the right wire gauge for the run length so the lights at the far end aren't dimmer than the ones near the house.
What it costs
Transparent pricing in writing.
Most residential landscape lighting projects run $2,000 to $6,000 depending on fixture count, property size, and whether you want smart controls. Simple front-path lighting can be closer to $1,500. Tim quotes after the walkthrough — the quote holds.
Before & after
What we replace. What we leave.
What we typically find
- Existing landscape lighting half-dead from corroded connections
- Dark walkway or steps — safety hazard
- Want uplighting on trees or the front of the house
- Security lighting around side gates and back yard
- Want phone control instead of a wall timer

How We Build It
Walk the property, then design it.
Tim walks the property with you — once during the day, once at dusk — to figure out what you want lit and where the dark spots actually are. We map out fixture placement, transformer location, and the trench run from the panel. Installation is direct-burial cable to code depth, gel-filled wire nuts at every connection, weatherproof transformer, and a smart controller so you set the schedule from your phone. We turn the system on at dark and walk it together to make sure every fixture is aimed right.

Outdoor wiring lives underground and underwater. Wrong wire gauge, ungrounded transformer, or splices that aren't gel-sealed and the system fails after one winter. Tim runs everything off a dedicated breaker, weatherproof gel-filled connections at every fixture, and pulls the ESA permit on the new circuit.

FAQ
Common questions
How much does landscape lighting cost?
Most projects run $2,000 to $6,000. A simple front-walk setup is closer to $1,500. Full property design with uplighting, accent lighting, and smart controls runs higher. Tim quotes after walking the property.
Can I control the lights from my phone?
Yes. We install smart controllers that schedule on/off times, adjust brightness, and integrate with Google Home or Alexa.
Will the system survive a Canadian winter?
If it's installed right. The failures we see are gel-free splices, undersized wire, and surface-laid cable. Tim direct-burials everything to code depth and gel-seals every connection. Done right, the system runs for 20+ years.
