Need hot tub wiring today? (416) 805-6676

Tim has wired more hot tubs than he can count — Bullfrog, Hydropool, Jacuzzi, Sundance, Beachcomber. The work is straightforward if you know what you're doing: dedicated 240V circuit at the right amperage, GFCI protection at the breaker, weatherproof disconnect within sight of the tub, proper bonding to the tub frame and rebar in any concrete pad. Skip any of those and you fail inspection — or worse, somebody touches the water and the tub frame at the same time and gets electrocuted.

What it costs

Transparent pricing in writing.

A standard hot tub install with a 50-60A dedicated circuit, GFCI disconnect, and proper bonding typically runs $1,500 to $3,000. Cost depends on the distance from the panel, whether underground conduit is needed, and whether the panel has the spare capacity. Tim quotes after a walkthrough.

Before & after

What we replace. What we leave.

What we typically find

  • New hot tub install — dealer needs electrical ready
  • Existing tub wiring is undersized, ungrounded, or non-GFCI
  • Tub trips the breaker constantly (usually a wiring or GFCI issue)
  • Selling the home and the tub wiring was flagged by the inspector
  • Adding a pool with a connected hot tub — combined permit and inspection

The Install

Dedicated circuit, GFCI, bonded.

Tim walks the spot with you and the tub dealer (if they're involved) to confirm location, distance from the panel, and what amperage the tub needs (50A or 60A is typical). We pull the ESA permit, run a dedicated 240V circuit from the panel — usually underground in PVC conduit — install a GFCI-protected disconnect within sight of the tub, bond the tub frame and any rebar in the concrete pad to the grounding system. Tub dealer hooks up the tub itself. ESA inspection signs it off.

Hot Tub Wiring work in York Region by Top Choice Electrical

Hot tub wiring sits in water, gets used wet, and gets touched by wet people. Wrong GFCI, wrong bonding, or wrong wire and it's a deadly setup. Tim pulls the ESA permit on every install, uses the correct GFCI breaker for the tub's amperage, and bonds the tub frame and concrete pad rebar to the grounding system per code.

FAQ

Common questions

How much does it cost to wire a hot tub?

A typical install runs $1,500 to $3,000 including the dedicated circuit, GFCI disconnect, bonding, and ESA permit. Long runs from the panel or a panel upgrade can add to that.

Why does my hot tub keep tripping the GFCI?

Usually one of: a bad heater element in the tub itself, moisture in the breaker or disconnect, a damaged wire, or the wrong size GFCI. Tim diagnoses it on the visit.

Can my panel handle a hot tub?

Most modern panels can. Older or smaller panels (60A or 100A service) often need an upgrade first. Tim runs a load calculation before quoting.
